When Life Feels Unfair, Trust God’s Purpose

There are seasons in life when the only question that seems to sit heavy on your heart is, “Why, God?”

Growing up, I was always taught not to question God. But if I’m honest, there have been times when I just didn’t understand His plan. Times when everything felt upside down, and I couldn’t see the purpose behind the pain or the chaos. Maybe you’ve been there too. Maybe you’re walking through that season right now.

Whether you’re stuck in a painful relationship, feeling trapped in a job that drains you, or facing challenges you never imagined, you find yourself wondering what God is doing, and why it feels so hard.

Over time, I’ve learned something important, I don’t have to understand to trust. The Bible reminds us in Romans 8:28 that “God works all things together for good for those who love Him“. Even the bad, the messy, and the heartbreaking, He can take it all and use it for something beautiful.

The hard part? In the middle of the storm, we don’t see the full picture. We don’t see how this pain could ever lead to purpose. But just because we don’t see it doesn’t mean God isn’t working. Sometimes, He’s not just working on our situation, He’s working on us.

When the questions feel overwhelming, I hold on to Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” This verse reminds me that I don’t have to figure everything out, I just have to trust Him and keep walking forward in faith.

I won’t pretend it’s easy. From my own experience, I know how hard it can be to stay hopeful when life feels unfair. It hurts when things don’t go the way you hoped or prayed for. It’s frustrating when you’ve done everything “right” but it still feels like everything is falling apart. But here’s the truth, God never promised life would be fair. What He did promise is that it will be worth it.

And while I don’t always get it right, I’ve learned that my attitude matters. It doesn’t mean I have to fake happiness or pretend everything is perfect, but it does mean choosing faith over fear and hope over despair.

Some days, it’s a fight to keep that perspective. Some days, I have to remind myself every hour to lean on Him instead of my own understanding. When the struggle feels heavy and my strength starts to fade, I think of Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Even when I feel weak and weary, God’s strength carries me through.

Life isn’t fair. But God is faithful. No matter how dark the season feels, there’s always a reason to keep going, to keep believing, to keep holding onto hope.

Today, I choose to stay positive, to trust in His timing, and to keep my faith anchored in His promises. And I encourage you to do the same. Have faith. Have hope. Because if you are a firm believer, you know that God will never let you down. His plan will always be greater and far more beautiful than anything you could ever imagine.

What season are you walking through right now? How has trusting God through the unknown shaped your faith? I’d love to hear your story, share it in the comments below so we can encourage each other to keep trusting, keep believing, and keep walking in faith.
