When Life Gets Hard, Remember, This Isn’t your forever Home

Being a Christian doesn’t mean life suddenly gets easy. In fact, sometimes it feels like the opposite. You step into faith, and suddenly the weight of trials, temptations, and spiritual battles seem heavier than before. But the truth is, this is the reality of following Christ. Struggle isn’t a sign you’re failing, it’s often proof you’re walking in the right direction.

Jesus Himself told us in John 16:33, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” That’s not just a verse to glance over. It’s a promise. Trouble will come, but so will victory.

When we feel discouraged or attacked, it helps to remember this, Jesus, the only perfect man to ever walk the earth, was hated, mocked, betrayed, and nailed to a cross. If perfection didn’t escape persecution, why should we expect to?

The world will not always understand your faith. People may roll their eyes, label you, or even turn against you. Your own mind may fight you, whispering doubts, making you feel unworthy or tired of trying. But if Jesus endured the cross for the sake of eternity, we too must keep going, no matter how heavy the struggle feels today.

One of the biggest traps we fall into is believing this life is all there is. But this earth, this flesh, this temporary home, none of it is forever. The Apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:17, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” Your body may be persecuted, your reputation may be attacked, your spirit may feel weary but your soul is secure in Christ. Eternity with Him far outweighs every painful chapter you face now. Don’t lose sight of the finish line because of today’s obstacles.

Every trial has a purpose. The enemy wants to use your struggles to break you down, but God allows them to build you up. The difference is perspective. Will you see the pain as punishment, or will you see it as preparation? Romans 5:3–4 says, “We glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.” In other words, your suffering is producing something. It’s shaping you, refining you, and pointing you back to the One who never fails.

The cross was not the end of Jesus’ story, it was the doorway to resurrection. The same is true for you. Whatever feels like it’s crushing you today is not the end; it’s the setup for your breakthrough. The fight you’re in is temporary, but the reward is eternal. So when you feel like giving up, remind yourself, this is not my forever home. My pain has purpose. My Savior already overcame the world. You’re not walking this road alone. God sees every tear, every battle, every weary step. And He’s reminding you today, keep going. Because when this life is over, you won’t just survive, you’ll sit next to Him, whole, free, and victorious forever.

Have you ever felt attacked by the Enemy, or even by someone directly, for standing firm in your faith? How did you handle it? Share your story in the comments to encourage someone else that they are not alone in this walk.
